So I was browsing around Costco today and saw this tent for $48 and change minus a $15 coupon. The coupon is available in the Costco flyer, I didn't have one but the lady at the register found one for me.

The url for the tent is http://www.wengerna.com/outdoor_landing.htm

It looks like a high quality tent for around 35 bux... sleeps 4 people and is 9' by 9' according to the box. By the same people who make Swiss Army Knives.

I don't even need a tent and I bought it because it looks like a great deal if you ever need a tent.

This deal is only good until March 9, so hurry in! This is a great deal on a nice tent. I got the coupon from the service desk no problem.

How's the quality on this tent?
How big is it all packed up and will it really sleep four or is it more of a 2 person tent?

TIA

Wish WE had a Costco :( I could really use a good tent, especially one with that good of a rain fly and a gear loft.

9'x9' would be pushing it for four people, but three would fit fairly comfortably.

Hi Guys, I bought this tent from Costco today. I think it is a good deal for around $35.

It looks good and seems to be well made. Here are the specs -
Center Height: 56" (1.37 m)
carry weight: ~ 11 lbs (5 kg)
area: 65.5 sq.ft.

I think it can be used for hiking. It comes with a nylon pouch with a briefcase like handle (you can lift it like a briefcase, but it a trifle heavy to carry for long).

cool features:
1. shoe pockets at each door
2. sunlight through a clearview window
3. small loft to keep items off the floor.
4. made of fire-retardant (but not fireproof) material

It's made in Bangladesh.

The costco deal ($15) off $48 is valid till Sunday (tomorrow). You do *not* need a coupon with you. Just remind the costco staff that there is a rebate for this item, and they will scan the coupon which they have. That's what I always do at costco if I know there is a deal on some item.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't look like a bad deal on a roomy cheap dome. But if you are going to use a tent a lot I recommend one with aluminum poles (these look to be fiberglass); they are much sturdier and lighter and easier to repair in a pinch and they the joints don't snag on the sleeves while you are trying to snake them through. Also, if you are going to be pitching and unpitching a tent a lot, 4 poles gets to be a pain.

We do a lot of camping, so we popped $200 bucks on the Kelty V-4. The Kelty's poles are thick (but light) aluminum, so even though it only has two of them, it is rated to 3.5 seasons And the poles have rubber endings on one side, so you push them through the sleeve and they fit in to a little pocket, hence you don't need anyone on the other side of the tent to hold the poles on the pegs while you try to erect the sucker. With 4 Fastex buckes on the rain fly, it is trivial for one person to set the V-4 up in 2 minutes. Probably this Wenger would take two people ten minutes. Of course $200 isn't $35, but if you set the sucker up 5 times a year for 10 years you'd save yourself about 5 hours of setup time (5X10X20 for the Wenger, 5.x10x2 for the Kelty) & perhaps another 2.5 hours of break down time. Plus, the Kelty would be in better shape at the end of that 10 years (the zippers, which are generally the first thing to go, are very beefy and not under much strain).
