why spend 8 bucks on a meal why you can make on your own for a fraction of the price :awe:

Sometimes it seems it's not really any more expensive to make food for 3-4 people compared to one. You can't go buy stuff to make one burger...and if all I want is one, it's cheaper to go get a shitty one from a fast food joint.

yeah, i went to get stuff on their value menu the other day cause i was in a hurry....most of it is well north of 99 cents now, meh.

ill go to cook out, where 99 cents can get me a number of things, or bojangles, where 5 bucks gets me a lunch combo, or 2.50 is all i need for breakfast.

Well that sucks, all the Wendy's around here still have everything at 99c except the go-wraps @ $1.59
the 2 wendys closest to me have the $1.50+ value menu. one is owned by a mexican, the other is owned by an indian (dot, not feather).

I agree though, food prices are getting higher and higher.
yeah. i was suprised that my local Wendys raised their $1 menu prices by 50%.
I wonder how long the king of the value menu (mcdonalds McDouble) will stay $1?

Pricing isn't set nationally, but locally, and corp stores can have different pricing from franchised stores. I can go 3 miles in one direction or 5 in the other and the same FF will have a 5-10% difference in pricing. Same county. Not in any city limits.

But, FF is like crack and folks will buy it. Just like cellular service.

wtf? Even with the exchange rate that's absurd.
In Norway the Bic Mac is nearly $8. I was just there (Norway, not a fast food joint) this summer and the value meals with small fry and small drinks were advertised at the equivalent of $20. $18 seems cheep in comparison.

I'm late to this thread, but did they just change their prices? I got a junior cheeseburger deluxe for $1 a few days ago, and 5 piece spicy nuggets are $1 as far as I know...

The Whaler at the BK across the street went from a $5.59 combo to $7.99 in the span of 6 months. At those prices, I'd rather fish something out of the Trinity and eat it.

As with all deals and the fact they are franchises, prices may vary.

LOT'S of stuff still $0.99 here. Just the double stack went to $1.59 recently. Otherwise the crispy chicken, jr. bacon cheesburger, spicy and regular nuggets, and small frosty are all a $0.99. As of yesterday. Move to a region with a less rapey Wendy's.

I'd gladly pay $20 for a value meal if I didn't have to write a $400+ monthly check for health insurance.

On a sad note - healthy food is getting really expensive. ex - I bought a couple of big apples the other day without paying attention the price. They ended up being well over $2 each.
Almost $5 for 2 apples. That's an entire meal budget for some.

I don't know how less fortunate people could afford to buy fruit for their kids on a regular basis.

well, that was the exchange. the combo meals were about $9-11 Euro at the time.

But Dublin is just expensive, even for Europe. ...and that would be expensive in US dollars, nvm the exchange.

You wouldn't find prices that bad in most European cities...then again, you shouldn't be eating at BK. :D

Yes, I've heard Norway is the worst.

I wonder what prices are like in Iceland?

:hmm:

no, it never is cheaper.

1 lb of ground beef is what, $2-5?

a single (Cheapo FF-style) bun comes to roughly 0.20 each?

tomatoes can be had for cheap. onions are cheap.

per burger, you can make something much better for about $1.

While this isn't common in most places, I can pretty easily get about 3 lbs of potatoes for $1 (God Bless Berkeley Bowl!). there's plenty of fries right there.

When has eating garbage with preservatives, loads of sodium, and trans fat ever been a bargain? if you're that hard up just start eating deep fried particle board. You probably won't notice a difference.

But where can you buy a single bun for $0.20? That's his point. For a single person wanting a single burger, fast food can be cheaper.

There are many other foods though, where it is still much cheaper than fast food.

What I hate is going to Taco Johns and spending over $25 for """JUNK""" food for 2 people. You can go to iHop and get a fairly good meal for $25. Taco Johns is totally over priced. And that is why I stopped going there.

Yeah IHOP and the others can be a pretty good deal especially since they have coupons in the paper all the time.
