Taiwan just reelected the ruling party DPP to the presidency. Outgoing president Tsai Ing Wen was not eligible to run due to term limit. New president was her VP.
I think of it as democracy progressing to allow a third choice.Not a huge mandate (got about 40% of the vote and doesn't have a majority in the legislature) but pretty massive turnout (75%) (massive compared to the USA) with voting and election processes running smoothly and all losers conceding graciously. We could learn a lot of lessons from them. Hopefully they don't become another puppet state of Red China.
