welp...its off to the ER

the boy was throwing up all last night. Today he has not eaten, and has hardly drank anything. He hasn't even peed yet. Of course most of you know that he is also a diabetic, which always makes things more fun. I hope the ER doesn't try to kill him again.

UPDATE:
well we just got back from the ER. Turns out it is just the flu or something like it. They gave him an IV and let him sit for a while and things starteed getting better. He got hungry about an hour and a half after we got there. I told the nurse about it and she did nothing. Long story short they let his blood sugar fall to the range where it starts getting really dangerous. I had attempted to get him some help 3 times before I took things into my own hands. I walked up to the nurses station where some idiot nurses aide asked me what I needed. I walked past him (into the nurses station) and found the RN. I told her what was going on and she said she had to talk to the doctor. I raised my voice and told her that my son needed help now before things get really ugly. I had about 30 people staring at me and this asshat nurse. She realized that I was not playing and said, "how bout some juice?" I was like, ya think?

Magically right after that, and after 2 1/2 hours of being left alone, they came in and discharged him. I really hate hospitals.

interesting...my 18month old was throwing up and sh!tting through a screen all night. Throws up every time I get him to drink some water or pedialyte.
Finally got him to take a nap.

Crazy thing is, I can still get him to giggle despite the fact he's miserable

Yikes.

Reminds me of a week my youngest was about 4 years old or so. She had been running a fever for several days and nothing would break it. She wasn't drinking or eating and couldn't even keep pedialyte down. Finally went to the ER and they put her on a glucose IV and about 2 hrs later she sitting up and talking up a storm!

Hope it goes well.

Friends kids were tossing cookies all day yesterday, just waiting til our's start tossing theirs.

he is really dehydriated. they should just give him an IV.
I hope he will be feeling better soon!

Reminds me of my experience with appendicitis. Go in there, forced to wait 4 hours or something before they're like...oh, maybe we should remove his appendix. Yeah, real smart, people, real smart. Could've been a helluva week if my appendix burst before they operated.

I agree that hospitals suck. If you really watch the people who work there, they're all usually pretty miserable (who wouldn't be, being around sick and miserable people all the time?)

Then stop going to them. Deal with it on your own if you're not happy with the way they give treatment.

I didn't want to go, but my son's ped nor his endo were equipped to deal with his problems. The ER isn't equipped for his diabetes...there is no easy solution.
