Amen to that.
Too many couples get caught up in making the wedding the most spectacular thing ever, but if you're truly in love it will be spectacular whether it is a small event for family and friends on a hillside with some homecooked food, or a lavish ceremony in a church with a ballroom reception and thousands of dollars worth of decorations, catering and hired help.
Do what you want, but considering how financial problems are one of the leading causes of divorce today, I would suggest at least being somewhat frugal.
