Sure seemed to me like they rallied behind voting DFL just because wellstone died and "...we need to do this for paul..." vote. Anyone else think this?

I just dont think its right to vote DFL just for the sympathy vote. You would think that the DFL`ers wouldn't go there at a memorial.

That is -not- what happened. The thing was fine until the last hour until it turned into a political mess. The anchors on all of the local stations were all commenting on it and the political analysts/talking heads they had on (including ones with liberal leanings) agreed that they stepped way over the line.

I think it when way over the line as well. There was a guy talking for about 15 minutes and I swear 14 of those minutes he said "Do it for Paul!" "We cannot let Paul down" etc etc.

Though when Paul Wellstone's son got up there and said the same thing I started to question whether or not it really was crossing the line. I doubt Paul Wellstone would have wanted everyone to focus on his death and his past, but rather the future of Minnesota....

Not to be gay or anything, but Paul Wellstone has a good looking son.

Heh, I'm not a DFL fan but the memorial seemed fairly well balanced. Yes parts seemed like a rally but he was a politician, not just some guy. A lot of people's ideals, values, and views went down the drain when he died. I'm not a fan of the guy but I didn't really see anything wrong with "Carrying on the legacy." if that's going to make them feel better, fine.

I thought the same thing as well, its kind of unfortunate because it's wrong to use a tragic death as reason to vote for someone :/

...still voting for Coleman

I saw some of the video footage. Hysterical. Bill and Hill strolling in like they're royalty, Kennedy stumbling in like he's drunk, Daschle looking as uninspiring as ever and The Reverend presenting his typical cash-settlement-or-I'll-cry-racist face. What a joke.

Channel 4 reported that Coleman attended the event but they had him in a secluded location so as to not cause a disturbance.

Ventura and his wife split the "memorial" (i.e celebration) early. He said he was pretty disgusted with the political rally atmosphere.
