Are you implying that you made a deposit in an ATM that was then adjusted by -$20.00 2 times and you think the teller(s) that reconcile the ATM stole your $20.00 each time? I don't know of any banks that don't use dual control when balancing ATMs or cash bag deposits left in a night depository. I find it hard to believe that 2 employees would risk their jobs for $10.00 each. Before you say that they are doing it to multiple deposits and that is where the payoff is any activity like that would raise a huge audit flag at any bank.

I know what I know... I know that the first time it happened, I wasn't sure. I thought that the first time it happened it may have been my mistake. When it happened a few weeks later at the same exact branch, same exact ATM, after I had been as careful as can be to count the cash three or more times--you mignt say I had an OCD about it if you saw me--I came to the only reasonable conclusion I could: they were stealing from me. So I stopped making any deposits at any ATM.

I hope that the adjustments did raise a red flag, and that the idiot(s) doing this to me got canned and prosecuted (of course, there's nothing to prosecute, because the losses were transferred to me instead of the bank).

Glad it worked out.

All I can say is:

Credit Unions>*

I'm blessed to be in a state where the credit unions are the 3rd and 4th largest financial institutions with branches everywhere. Good rates, good customer service, and they don't nickel and dime you for every little thing. If you have the opportunity, definately join.

Update: Wells admitted fault and will be refunding everything. 🙂

So this evil bank you speak of followed their process and discovered they made a mistake and fixed it and you're still unhappy with them?

Never ever deposit cash in an ATM. If you have cash, take it to a teller and get a receipt. Even though the bank employees have video surveillance, I'm sure they have found ways around it.

To be honest, I've been nothing but impressed with Wells Fargo's customer service. Had accounts with them for over 5 years now.

I'm glad you got your money back. Did they make an exception for you or did they say they made a mistake?
