What if I want to use my Debit Visa?
What about it? Be smarter and use a CC. Or, find a company without debit card fees. You don't have to use Wells Fargo for debit cards even if you want to use them for other purposes. That is the advantage of breaking the mindset that all banking needs to be done at the same company.

Use another bank? Better yet, a local credit union.

Exactly, that's why I use Navy Fed. Free debit Visa on checking so I don't have to touch any credit cards, better interest rates on saving. ATMs everywhere. I'm starting to sound like a stupid commercial.

guess its all on what account you can have. I have wells fargo. Wont be charged the debit card fee (ie free debit card). Have no fee's on atm's anywhere. i can use anyones and not get charged. The saving's % is so marginal they are hardly worth mentioning. Navy Federal is .1% higher than mine. So i get an extra 2 dollars a month? yay? never understood the whole credit unions are so much better mentality. unless you have the basic accounts (in which case heck yes they are) but with my account i get everything free.....well i think checks i just get like 75% off or some crap to be fair. But in three years i think ive had to reorder checks once....due to change bank account numbers lol. otherwise no fees, free money orders, cashiers checks, foreign currency exchange, ect havent run into anything of a more "standard" banking natural that hasnt been free.

this has nothing to do with debit card monthly fees. they are now charging for "free checking accounts." you said you have a direct deposit so all you have to do is go to a branch or call and get your account converted. then viola! no more fees.

i swear people overreact over the dumbest things...

Same shit happened to me with WF. Moved all of my money to a local bank and I've had no problems and better customer service.

We'll be dumping Wells Fargo, who I've been with for 10 years, for a Credit Union once we move back to Portland.

It's funny, my parents have been with WF their entire lives, through all of the name changes and acquisitions, and they say that it's only started sucking under the WF name.

it's got nothing to do with the WF name. it's all the gov regulations that are making all banks charge more/higher fees because their income is taking such a big hit. there was no way they were going to eat the loss when they could pass it on to the consumer.
