I dumped my original plan of getting a Core 2 Duo E6300, and decided to get an AMD Athlon 3500+ (AM2), so I could buy a better video card. I replaced the 7600 GT in my projected system with a Radeon X1800XT 256mb (If prices lower enough I could get myself an X1900XT; I'll just have to wait and see...)
So here is my revised system specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (AM2) I plan to overclock it a bit :p
Asus M2N-E nForce 570 Ultra MCP
Samsung SpinPoint P Series 160gb SATA 3.0gb/s hard drive
Sapphire Radeon X1800XT (model number 100154SR) 256mb
Aspire Chameleon ATX AS550W 550 watt PSU
1 GB of G. Skill Extreme Series DDR2 667 SDRAM (2x512 MB)(I plan on getting 2GB more for my birthday :D )
Windows XP Media Center Edition
Logisys Area 51 case (black)

Logitech MX518 mouse
Rosewill RK-680 keyboard

If all goes well I'll have a 19 inch widescreen moniter and 2GB more RAM by March :D

Ok, I disagree with just about all of the parts on your list, so here are my suggestions:

1) Wait for the price cuts and get a Athlon 64 X2 3800+ so you can have dual-core at least
2) Get a better video card, something like a 7900GT or similar
3) Get 2GB of value RAM instead of 1GB of performance which will get you more bang for your buck
4) Why do you need Windows MCE? Home or Pro should suffice
5) Spend a little more money and get a good power supply, like a Seasonic, Antec or PC Power & Cooling model
6) That case is FUGLY... save your eyes and get a case that isn't an eyesore

That's my two cents, but I'm sure others will put in theirs as well. :)

AM2 sucks, you should have gone for a 6400 or a 6300, you'd get better performance.

I changed the PSU to a Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550
I changed the case to an Aspire X-Plorer (blue and black. I like it better too :p)
I changed the video card to a Leadtek 7900GT
I will change the CPU to a 3800 X2
And I changed the RAM to cheap 2GB G. Skill DDR2 667 (PC2 5400)
(also I changed the OS to XP Pro SP2 )
I am hoping other users can find that suitable

WinXP MCE is fine enough. Cheaper than Pro, more features than Home. Choose the OS that has the feature set you want.

I changed the OS back to MCE. It is basically Pro for cheaper with the MC part, and with the $35 or so I save I'll be able to get a new sound card :p

So in March i'll buy 2GB more RAM and for Christmas or with money from Christmas i'll buy a 19 inch LCD :D

First I have to sell a few things on eBay (my bass guitar with amp, and my paintball gun) (If anyone is interested in a beginner's paintball gun or 24 inch neck bass guitar with an amp, case, and 15 foot cord PM me and I'll give you the link to the auction when I get the stuff up on eBay)

You will have a better chance of getting women by playing bass in a band than playing with your computer in your bedroom.

very true...

anyway, the adjusted parts are better than waht you had before. i think it would help if you gave the prices of those parts. there's a $300 X1900XT on newegg currently (made by Connect3D i believe) so that should be a good upgrade.

why are you getting the spinpoint hard drive? is it for the silence or is it migrating from a previous build? if it's just for the silence, you don't have a quiet rig so i would get a western digital or seagate 250gb hard drive. even if you don't think you need the 250gb, 250gb hard drives are faster than 160gb hard drives so you'll benefit there.
