Hey guys,

Just wanted to say thanks to the people in this forum who helped me get into watercooling. With your advice, I was able to decide on some nice parts that let me get excellent temps with a dead silent setup. Also wanted to give a special thanks to aigomorla for his great guide on setting up watercooling, although it seemed strangely similar to Maxxracer's at Xtremesystems at some parts 😉

Here's what you guys got me into:

Pump

Radiator

Overall

If you guys want to see how I did it, my worklog is at Hardforums

The case is a Rocketfish 🙂D to all you who said it is bad for cable management)

WC parts:
Swiftech MCP665 vario
Swiftech Apogee GTX CPU block
Swiftech MCW-60 VGA Block
Swiftech MCR 320 Radiator
T-Line with DD fillport
Masterkleer 7/16 Tubing
Coolant is distilled water with Pentosin

Overall, I really like how silent Watercooling is and the nice temps for OC. It does command a big price premium, though. Just wanted to share my thoughts with you guys 🙂

Awesome!

I'm waiting to put my Q9650 h20 cooling machine together. I'm new to the h20 cooling scene; eg, drilling etc. so I figured I'd take my time and do it during the winter 😀

watch out on that GTX.

a lot of close friends of mine got bit in the butt by the alu top. Thats also why i dropped that block entirely until i got a copper top replacement.

Welcome you'll love it *** warning very addictive will cost you money! ***
Nice build!

I think the GTZ is all copper right? go for that!

Looks very nice. Good job.

You must have some high ambient noise levels if the setup is dead silent with all those fans in the system 🙂

+1

Watch that Alu top.

dam man. thats some good stuff right there. wish i had the tools, materials, knowledge, and the bank account to pull something like this off.

kudos to you my friend.

BTRY: Thanks, that Q9650 must be a beast!

Evilsponge: The GTZ has a copper base and a delrin top, so it will have no problems with corrosion. I would go with that if I had $70 to drop on a new block! 😛

Aigomorla and Gillbot: If you look at my first two pics here, you'll see that I actually started with a corroded top.

Now Gabe was able to sponsor me with a fresh GTX top and I'm running pentosin as an anticorrosive. Should that be enough to prevent galvanic corrosion from biting me in the butt?

Woodbutcher: Thanks. This is actually my first Lian Li case I kept for myself and I must say it was very fun to mod. Have fun with yours!

Old Hippie and Covert24: Thanks for the nice words guys🙂

Thanks! It's going to be alot of fun. I get giddy just at the fact that I have one, hah I'm saving the build for a winter project. I actually have all the H20 parts but I borrowed the 4870 for my 8400 rig so i might just upgrade to a 4870x2 for the Q9650 machine, so, the time i'm letting it sit, will be beneficial to me with costs. It's my first H20 cooling setup as my room gets hot even with a fan pulling the hot air out the window. We even got ridge vents installed. They did help but not enough for hot summer temps. Yeah, i'm excited and nervous at the same time. Taking time to think out my configurations how I want it. I have an idea but I'd hate to drill into the case and then see a better idea. I'm trying to fit a MCR 320 into/onto, somewhere, somehow with a Lian Li V1100 B I've placed a second MCR120 on the outside of the 120mm exhaust vent for inbetween my CPU and GPU loop, which reminds me I bought a 4870 block so, hah, i guess I'll be buying a second 4870. I just wished sapphire didn't change to the new blue PCB layout on their 4870. Who knows what else they changed. I mean, i'd like to crossfire them someday ...???... maybe

😀

Cheers!

yeah it will, however i recomend you snagging a copper top for it at your best convience or replacing the block. :\

The Anticorrosive, im guessing water wetter? is pretty nasty stuff tho.
