Well, who here has to work longer hours this week?

I was notified by my pimp *ahem* contract manager that I would not get Memorial Day paid, nor would I get any of the other holidays this year paid either. I looked in my contract and did not see the exclusion. Crap, nowadays they write in holiday time as part of the contract. If they don't write it in, you don't get it.

And since the campus was unpowered for the whole week, there was no way I could have come in and worked anyway.

The only nice thing is that the department I am working in gave me a year long property pass for my laptop so that I could take it home whenever I am forced to take unpaid holidays again. (They said just mark the extra time onto the regular days to balance it out.)

But while there is power in the building (although the lights automatically shut off at 8), I have to stay at work instead of taking it home.

dammit.

No, I worked seven days straight at about 14 hours per day. During the last three days, I had to wear a chemical protection suit and a flak vest and helmet.

Three day weekend and back to normal hours. 😉
