Reps. Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar, two of the most vehement Donald Trump supporters in Congress who led GOP efforts in their home state of Arizona to subvert the results of the 2020 presidential election, have been subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury as part of a probe into the former president’s so-called “fake electors” plot.
The news was first reported by Politico, which said the subpoenas do not indicate that Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is necessarily mulling criminal charges against either Biggs or Gosar.
However, according to the outlet, the move by Mayes, who is reportedly close to making a decision on whether or not to indict, suggests investigators have “cast a far wider net… than previously understood.”
The Jan. 6 committee found that both Biggs and Gosar attended a White House meeting with Trump on Dec. 21, 2020, to strategize on ways that then-Vice President Mike Pence could block the certification of the election results.
Spokespeople for Gosar, Johnson and Mayes declined to comment.

Almost 4 years later. Might lead to something significant 50 years after everyone here is dead at that rate.

But we must try to keep faith in the Justice system, right?

Give AZ's new AG a chance!

She squeaked by in the 2022 election, the first Dem elected to the office since 2006.

She's been in office a little over a year - while the US justice system moves agonizingly slowly I don't think a bit over a year is a long time if you are (potentially) indicting sitting members of Congress.

I think that the number of people dumbstruck by how the political criminal elites have escaped consequences for a treasonous attempted coup on Jan 6 equates to the fact that a real system of justice in America does not in fact exist. Justice delayed is Justice denied and that everyone is equal under the law is an f-ing lie.

The level of accountability for the rich and the powerful actually face is insufficient to act as a deterrent. The odds speak to the fact that crime pays and the threat that it doesn’t pay is just words those same elites want you to believe so you don’t pick up a pitch fork.

Down here in Az I'm sure Biggs and Gosar were gobbling each others knobs when the Cyber Ninjas did their recount. How'd that work out for you douche bags.

We'll see what comes of it, but good they're investigating it. The fake electors stuff should worry any and all states though, so even states where it didn't happen I hope they're looking at other safeguard to prevent it being an issue.

Which, I know there was some consternation (even on here) that the Dems ran Mayes for AG and not Governor, but looks like things have worked well. I really think the over the top dog and pony show that Republicans pulled in it backfired on them, as ultimately the stupid farce that was the recount and the recount of the recount pissed people off. Hell even blackangst called it out, that's how obviously blatantly bullshit that whole situation was.

It is alarming how close both the governor and AG races were, considering this woman ran against the previous AG that enabled that entire shitshow (and I believe he was indicating he might continue that shitshow with sham investigations to try and prop up the election claims), but thankfully seems enough people saw through the nonsense and pointless election crap (there was some fervor about debates, which are just the dumbest most pointless fucking thing in modern politics; well maybe not absolute dumbest/pointless, but definitely up there).

But, I think if we did the same 2022 election now, both Hobbs and Mayes would likely win by larger margins. There's been a pretty significant drop in open support for Republicans/Turmpism down here. I'm not saying its all sunshine and rainbows as I think that mindset is still there, but has been forced to shut up/go low key, but it does indicate to me there is real normal everyday change that has happened some since.
