Well, this sucks...

Some lowlife smashed a window at the Bike shop I manage last night and made off with probably close to 5K in bikes! (one alone was $3,500 and was on layaway. This bike is no longer being produced either!)

I'm not working today, so I don't know exactly HOW bad it is. I HOPE they didn't get my Snap-On tools and Boxes as well!!! 🙁

Wow, that's crazy. If you have the serial numbers of the bikes, maybe the police can do some checking on bike racks in the area. Or you can do some vigilante justice stuff and check on your own. 🙁

🙁 I hope they cut themselves on shards of glass and died while they were driving off with the bikes.

Yeah, we have the numbers but the cops in this area do NOTHING regarding bike thefts!

Hell, a fews months back they decided to not pursue property crimes at all!!!!

Sad state of affairs when the cops can pick and choose what types of crimes THEY feel are important. :disgust:

I'm SURE they are still actively going after dope growers. They bust THEM and they can take all their STUFF!

It is a sad state of affairs. We have to prioritize because of budget & personnel restrictions. I'm sure you'd be more than willing to pay higher taxes so that the Police could investigate & pursue all crimes.

Or we could end the recockulous "war on drugs", which would free up just a small amount of cash.

Anyway, Brutuskend, do you have insurance to cover the loss, or are you going to have to eat it? And how much is a new window going to run you?

Not surprising in a college town to have bike theft be low priority, but when it involves breaking and entering, property damage, and $5k worth of stolen merchandise, they should be paying attention.

I hope the store was insured (especially if they made off with your tools.)

Yeah, we have insurance.

Not sure what the window will cost. 🙁

Might want to invest in a security camera setup.

Or a dog. My grandfather had at least one at his shop all the time, and while Mack (one of the dogs) would let anyone inside the fence at night without barking, we think that's just because he liked blood. When Mack was still alive, no one that got inside the fence got out without my grandfather telling Mack to let go.
