Ive had my pc, tv, and dvd player in my room for over a year now with no problems...all of a sudden about 20 minutes ago everything in my room shuts off and the PC restarts. I thought it was a brownout, but as soon as I turned on my dvd player everything shut off again and my PC restarted.

weird

Is the weather hot there, so lots of people are running a/c?

not hot enough here to warrant an AC...besides I live in a house, and I think the problem is confined just to my room. Ill have to check on it in the morning...cant be turning stuff on and off while the rest of the family sleeps

Reason I asked is that sometimes if a lot of electricity is being used in the neighborhood (more than usual) the voltage to your house can be lower, and at some point an device will balk or run hot. Had it happen to me--104 volts at the socket in my room.

Ouch.

That's still within spec, though. Most devices will operate OK on 104V.

But it's probably not a very good sign of the quality of the electricity...

sweet, I just turned my TV on and nothing else went out. Maybe I should dig up that brand new APC UPS unit thats been collecting dust under my bed for the past 6 months. I hate being a procrastinator

Try plugging your TV/DVD player into different outlets and see if it happens then, too.

That could narrow down a few problems.
