So, I was taking my 7600gt to do the pencil mod, when i discovered the blasted dvi cable wont come off the card. One of the screw in screws on the connector wont budge. I've used a screwdriver to try to get it off to no avail. What should be my next course of action?

I looked at my DVI adapter, and it looks as though you should be able to use a pair of needle nose plier to turn the screws. But then I don't know how this would be on the cable itself.

If a screw driver can't do it I doubt pliers would do better.

If you can still get a good bite with the screwdriver, and can't turn it, you must have stripped out the screw. The chances of the pliers working depends on the space that you have to work with, and the surface of the head of the screw...actually the side of the head, like being knurled.

If you use them parallel to the back of the computer you could get more torque if that's the issue.

Vicegrips are great tools, but he would never get them to fit. The key is patience and persistence.

With the screwdriver I managed to get about 1 and a half rotations, but I figured it wasnt working since it didnt get any looser.

Try a little WD-40 dabbed on with a q-tip. Let it soak into thread before removal.

Why would you need to tighten any of these connectors more than finger tight. The chance of vibration loosening them is nil.
