First half of the story. September 11th, 2001 (of all the days it could happen, it happened this day) my father recieved notice that he would be on the short-term CGI boat. What happened was, he worked for Firemans Fund Insurance Co. and they outsourced all of the IT dept. My dad did the networking and running cables and stuff, switches routers, all that crap. Moving people from one desk to another (the connections) and ended up eventually in charge of the cellphones in the area. Well FFIC outsourced these people to CGI, some stupid little Canadian company that couldnt tell their ass from a hole in the ground. It ends up probably the short term people, the ones that CGI blindly picked to be laid off after 10 months or so from aquiring them got the better deal since CGI is/was so freggin inept. It just so happens though my dad was basically the only GOOD person in his work group, I could write a short essay on just this topic of how they or the lack of how they chose people to stay with them or not but that would make this far far too long. Anyway, hes out of a job right now with a fat check for some months of pay to find another job as severence. Yea, right. BTW, he is suing them along with some other people i think because they jipped him money, too.

Second half, WELL, my mom works for FFIC too. (See a direct link here yet?) Yea, you should. She just came into my room and said "well it looks like tommorow is my last day at work, this is going to be interesting." Then just asked me about my math and physics hw that i should have done already and havent.

FUN! :| :frown: At this point it looks like we're up Sh1T creek! :D

Ok my lack-of-money-sucks rant is over. Have a nice day.

My dad worked for a company for 17 years, and became director of one of their programs. His new boss had a boyfriend. She decided to give my dad's job to her boyfriend, so my father was fired after 17 years of work. Of course, the boyfriend quit a month later. They had to hire 4 people to do the same job my father did by himself.

We thought we were up sh!t creek for a little while, but he started his own consulting business off of the experience he had from his job. Now he makes over $130,000 a year, and now my parents are building a beach house at Cape San Blas.

So believe me when I say there's hope. It's nowhere near the end of the world.
