Guess my lungs are thanking the State Government tho...

We'll see a big move back to beer gardens as a result i think, which suits me, since a beer garden is the best place to drink on a warm summers night :D

I think they did this in NSW a little while back....It's no biggie, in the end it gets more people in to pubs than before.

Happened in Kahleeforneeya over 10 years ago. Everyone cried how it was gonna hurt their businesses...Bars and clubs are still packed, people just have to go outside to smoke. Only a problem in cold and/or wet weather.

Interesting .. this seems to be a worldwide trend. As a light smoker (5~7 cigs a day) I do miss smoking in bars but it is kind of nice to go home only reeking of booze not booze and smoke. I do not smoke inside my apartment but I have a patio, and we have a smoking courtyard at work, but many bars and restraunts that previously allwowed smoking in part or all of the establishment do not have an outdoor smoking area at all so you have to stand outside the front doors or in the parking lot to smoke and that just looks bad.

I feel bad that it leaves smokers no place to go, but I certainly love it. I hadn't been able to go to a bar in a long time.

Take a look at U.S. postal codes. WA is for Washington.

Think he means Washington state.

It took me a long time to get used to not smoking in bars. I've been in CA for 6 years, but every once in awhile, I will subconsciously pull out a cigarette, when in a bar, as if I'm going to light it, then I catch myself, and go outside.

why would he mean Washington state if he's in Australia?

WA = Western Australia... maybe?

He definitely means Washington State.

Can't we just call Washington DC 'DC' and leave us Washington? We were here first anyway... :p ;)

Sweet, so the moral authoritarians have slugged their iron fists into the guts of private property owners in Australia as well?

I can't wait until they start regulating what we can do in our own houses!
