Well There Goes The 19" Sony CRT! :(

So after 2.75 years of use, my 19" Sony CRT is starting to die on me. The bottom left hand corner of the screen is becoming discolored and the purplish tint on the start menu is becoming aparent. As of late it seems like it isn't all that sharp either..the whole screen that is. At some points it is and some it isn't. Looks like it may be time to upgrade to a 21" LCD eh? I don't wanna send it back to Sony because it weighs about 85 pounds 😀

I've had my HP MX75 flat pannel for going on 4 years now and haven't had any problems. I'd like to upgrade but if I do that I have to get a new desk and if I get a new desk i'm going to have to wait till I move out of this apartment in another 10 months. So I hope it holds on. During the winter it gets kind of iffy, it doesn't like the cold, the colors distort to a green/blueish color, I think it has something to do with the hook up to my video card because if I move that all is well again.

have you degaussed your monitor? what you';ve todl us leads me to ask this... if you have then ignore this.... the "degauss" function de magnetizes the monitor or something and can usually be accessed through the on screen menu..... at school many of the monitors get messed up and go purple in the corners, degaussing it removes the messed up colours and makes it sharper slightly....
