Well, the exotic driving experience was a bust...

I drove out to Fontana this morning to drive a Ferrari or a Lamborghini only to find that it was too windy and they canceled the event.

We are going to reschedule for sometime a few months from now.

To be honest, it was insanely windy. Weather report said gusts up to 70mph and I believe it, it was blowing like a motherfucker out there. The problem was they set up this course in a parking lot and the wind was blowing the cones over.

We drove around the perimeter of the track and were able to drive right up to the grandstands at turn one and get up into the grandstands to watch the trackday event. We only stood out there for about 10 minutes because it was pretty cold and windy as hell.

This just makes me want to buy a really fast car and come out here and do trackdays. There were two cars running here today that were absolutely amazing, one was a Cadillac CTS-V race car and the other was a Porsche 911 race car of some flavor. They had to be doing 150mph past us. They were absolutely flying.

Lots of Corvettes, M3's, a Lambo. That guy in the Porsche was absolutely flying though.

I got to see the V race cars up close last year at Road Atlanta. Was pretty awesome, though it made me really jealous.

That sucks, sorry Jules. I know you were really looking forward to it. Hang in there a little bit longer. It will be worth the wait.

That sounded ridiculously windy. It'll be more fun on a calm day.

Meh, it was a little over an hour drive and I was home before 11AM plus I had breakfast with friends out in the middle of meth country SoCal.

Maybe we can pimp a few extra laps out of them when we finally get to do this.

I'm just glad I took the car vs riding out there on my bike... that would have been miserable in that wind.

I went mountain biking in Orange County earlier this morning and it was very scary with how windy it was on the trail. I can't even begin to imagine Fontucky, that area is always in the news getting the strongest wind.

Just get your own track car. Going to track days is an obsession I haven't seen anybody give up once they start.

They apparently record it all and give you a USB drive at the end, so we'll see what's on it.

They do that for this event also. Of course, they charge you extra for that though. You want insurance? Extra $100! You want photographs? Extra $! You want a video? Extra $!

I'm just going to bring a P&S camera and have my friend video my runs.

I did this in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, very fun and drove a red head Ferrari!
