This is really messed up and has to be stopped when I first saw this I thought, this has to be a joke.

I guess maybe some of you will see where a Bush administration and Republican controlled congress takes us.

I really don't have much else to say about it right now (I'm really ticked), I can't believe tax dollars are going to this, it is entirely unacceptable.

Maybe they hope that terrorists will be stupid enough to try and make a profit of their acts and bet on where and when their next strike against the US will take place.

Or maybe they're just a bunch of dumbass Bush fanboys.

I wonder what you have to do to become a trader, if it is free if we could get a bunch of people to sign up to be traders and essentially do nothing.

That would render the market useless.

I dunno if that would work but, either way we need to start a grassroots movement to stop this.

Jeezus this has to be some kind of hoax. I cannot think of a single good reason for such an absurd program. Its almost surreal in that crop-circle kind of way.

Assuming this is true, it's certainly stranger than fiction.

My biggest concern here is that people are going to try to rig bets.

I can't see what benefit this would bring. FeathersMcgraw had an excellant point, what happens when there are millions of dollars on one predicution, and when it doesn't happen, those invested go and make it happen ? Its terrible!

That is so completely inane that I have to agree with the hoax theory. Its just too stupid and totally without any redeeming value whatsoever.

Wyden said the Policy Analysis Market is under retired Adm. John Poindexter, the head of the Terrorism Information Awareness program and, in the 1980s, a key figure in the Iran-Contra scandal.

Why am I not surprised?

What I find particularly scary about this is folks in the Pentagon think "guessing" is as good a way to gather intelligence than anything else.

What's next, psychics?

At least I know you're doing something useful with my tax dollars, like adding to your collection of thongs. ;)

At least someone has some sense. That still doesn't change the fact that people in charge of our security thought this was actually a good idea. Are they really that desperate? Scary stuff.

They should be required to pay back all the funding out of their own pocket.

That wouldn't be even remotely shocking considering Wolfowitz is a Strauss protege' of sorts (ie- f*cking crazy).
