i tried like hell to make thermite from all the aluminum and iron grindings on my bench... no luck

Its very very unlikely, it was just a funny thought.

It needs to be a fine powder, not shavings, and at something like 8 to 3 ratio by mass (50/50 by volume) and needs a few thousands degrees for ignition.

Sucks. I have found that corroded bolts can turn a one hour job into a four hour. It's why I cannot remember the last time I worked on my car and didn't curse like a drunken sailor. It's always something corroded, or heads breaking off, etc.

Salt needs to DIAF.

You should see the engine cradle of my Saturn. O.M.G. I'll take pics when I swap it out. I never realized exactly how bad road salt was until a couple years back I put on one of those cheap $40 Autozone mufflers, and one Chicago winter later it was already rusted through.

Yep. Or, when something just doesn't line up correctly, or fit in the space provided, even when it's the exact same size as what came out.

The Big Ass Bolt claims another one🙂

Had the same problem on one of my Subarus. Hub and spindle were also fused together, ended up getting a new hub after I cut/burned my way through the bushings.

I may end up doing just that...will find out in a day or two. 😛

hey, i've got an arbor press and hydraulic press at home and some bigger ones at work... if you get that spindle out and the hub won't come free, we could give that a shot. same if you need to press bushings in/out.
