One of my Aunt's sisters has a terminal cancer diagnosis. She has an inoperable brain tumour between the lobes of her brain. They gave her chemo and radiation but the diagnosis is not good. She (the aunt) came over last night to our family christmas party. For most of the night she seemed very good. In fact she seemed more talkative and happy than normal and she's usually both already. She DID seem very emotional though. One of the other guests works as a radiologist and somehow they got talking about the issue and I think she asked him his opinion on the diagnosis. He's not an oncologist obviously but he's smart and seems to know cancer diagnoses fairly well. Anyway she already knew her sister was terminal but I guess getting confirmation from him was hard to take. I think she thought her sister might have 2 years or so, he thought that sounded too optimistic from what he knew, that hit her hard. She left crying, though still composed. But a damper on what was otherwise a fantastic Christmas. Sad to see
Reg family relations: Yes her sister is also my Aunt. But technically there is no relation to me as she (my aunt) never married my uncle. This is only really a technicality though as they have been together for 12+ years and are a great couple. They have retirement plans and intend to stay together for life. So I consider her my aunt.
