"is Ted Cruz qualified to be President" Joe Scarborough this morning.
Trump said yes he is qualified and added something about Ted being a intelligent guy.
No follow up question about why Obama was not eligible because allegedly he was born in Kenya.

Yup, he's the candidate the gop deserve. Probably not the one they want, but you reap what you sow.

So the arguments against Obama have been a) he was Born in Kenya and b) if he was born in Hawaii his father wasn't a citizen so he wasn't eligible.

Now we have Cruz who was born in Canada to a non-citizen parent. However, since Obama was "allowed" to remain president this will garner no attention from the same people who went after Obama.

No. The argument was if he was born in Kenya, his mother didn't meet the time requirements for him to be granted citizen status.

Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock

A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) of the INA provided the U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth. (For birth on or after November 14, 1986, a period of five years physical presence, two after the age of fourteen, is required. For birth between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen, is required for physical presence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child.) The U.S. citizen parent must be the genetic or the gestational parent and the legal parent of the child under local law at the time and place of the child’s birth to transmit U.S. citizenship.

Oh I disagree. He's the GOP candidate that liberals deserve.

Anyone with ambition in US public life has long since learnt the value of self-censorship. A word out of context can ruin your chances of being confirmed by the US Senate. Risk-taking is penalised. Blandness is key to career advancement. Little wonder large swaths of the American public have lost faith in their leaders’ integrity. When a politician speaks, the effect is too often chloroformic. The vacuum that spontaneity once occupied is wide open for others to fill. Next time you wonder why a demagogue like Donald Trump is doing so well, ask why there is such high return to his plain spokenness. Could it be because it is being rooted out of public life?

He was born in Hawaii though, Hospital shows the record and so does the newspaper prints.

This crap about some kid being born in Kenya just to be destined 40+ years later to be the president of the US is so far fetched it's absurd. Are we watching too many prophecy movies or some shit?

Honestly I'm fine with Birthers like Trump simply saying that they thought Obama was ruining the country so much they'd support anything to have him removed/replaced by Biden even if it sounded insane like the Birther claims.

He was asked the same about Rubio, said yes, then proceeded to mention 3-4 negatives about Rubio that one would think should preclude him from answering yes. Guy is the walking embodiment of the word "buffoon".

He isn't dominating anyone. He currently has something like 6-8% of the actual voting public behind him.

His claims of "poll dominance" are amusing.

No, the argument was a birth certificate was created for Barack Obama in 1961 and a majority of crazy Republicans refuse to believe it. They would rather listen to Fox News spew conspiracy theories.

It's going to be fascinating to see how the GOP lineup shakes out. Most likely, a few will drop out after the NH primary.

And all the dems have to offer is a senile old man and a lying old corporate whore.

Funny, I never heard about this theory.

Homer is correct on this, it may have even been Trump who suggested this idea. Essentially the theory is he was born and raised in Kenya and his Mother or a relative somehow either scammed a live birth record or did it thinking that they needed it recorded even though he was born out of the country. Apparently at the time news paper birth announcements were pulled from the hospitals live birth records a friend of a friend is a birther who believed this. I found it very odd he's probably genius level intelligence and has started two businesses one of which became so successful he sold it to a large engineering firm because he didn't want to run a medium sized business. He is without a question one of the smartest people I have ever met.
