Back from the oral surgeon. They only took out one wisdom tooth today, the other three will be done later. Right now I feel really, really stupid. I'm sitting here with a ziploc bag of ice wrapped in a dish towel, held to my head with a belt so I can type.

Local anaesthetic hasn't worn off yet, but I'm already on percocet so hopefully there won't be too much pain.

I had to sit in the friggin' chair for 70 minutes with a numb jaw until they finally came & took the damn tooth out. That part only took 10 minutes. Some absolutely wicked noises, though.

Bright side of things is my mom bought me $40 worth of food for the next couple days. I've got pudding, Dr. Pepper, clam chowder, some mild chili, jello, & a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Pretty much whatever I wanted, she bought for me.

So even if it hurts like a bitch, I'll be eating well.

:)

[EDIT}I'm a dumbfvck...[/EDIT]

lol, last year(or was it the year before?) they had to pull 4 of my adult teeth for my braces. the oral surgeon gave me a general AND local anestetic(sp?) so once i woke up, my whole face was still numb, hehe. felt like i had just had a car jack in my mouth though...

One other thing I forgot to mention...

There are some DAMNED fine secretaries in the Hillsboro office of Christ Bouneff, Philip Green, & Anthony Bouneff. Go take a look if you're in the area... ;)

Unfortunately, the one that helped on my surgery was very pregnant.

If i were gonna put the moves on a girl, I wouldn't want it to be one who had been digging teeth out of my mouth.

If the general anesthetic hasnt' worn off, how are you awake? don't you mean LOCAL?

Also they numbed you up, and then made you sit for over an hour?

Doh! General, local, what's the difference? ;)

And yes, they injected me three times, & then made me wait an hour. In fairness to them, though, they'd agreed to work me into their schedule on short notice. So I guess they were busy. But still, waiting an hour in a dental chair wasn't fun.

The ironic thing was that after they were done, they took my pulse & blood pressure again (they did it at the very beginning, too). Both my pulse and blood pressure were actually lower immediately afterwards then they were before. And before I'd been sitting bored in the waiting room.

I got my wisdoms out in June. A peice of advice: Make sure you get up in the middle of the night and take your pain meds... if you don't you will wake up around, oh, 5am feeling like you got shot in the head..... depending on what time you went to bed of course.

I only had 3 out, as there were only 3 in my mouth... as for the last one... who cares, the less teeth, the cheaper the procedure :)

I went and did my manual labour job 4 days after the procedure... I think it was a mistake :p I hurt bad at the end of the day.

Good luck :)

I think getting my wisdom teeth out was the worst experience of my life. All 4 of mine were still under my gums because there was no room for them to come out, they were pushing my other teeth. They put me under and dug them out of there. I couldn't talk or do much of anything for days, all the blood loss made me sick, it was awful.

Mash potatoes, my friend. They seem to be the absolute best thing to eat after that procedure (or they were for me, at least).

Oh, and get off the painkillers as soon as you can bear it. It really doesn't take that long to get a drug habit (once again, at least for me). After you run out of them you might have problems sleeping or relaxing for a bit.

Vipe;

As I recall, you're in PDX. I'm a PDX native, too.

My bro lives in Hillsboro.

Next time I'm in town I'll look you up.

Enough of the amenities: I still have my wisdom teeth, and room for another set. :D :D

I'd be lying if I said I 'feel' for you. ;)

Wow, I do feel for you, Viper. Don't you love the crunching and grinding sounds they are making when they're ripping the tooth out of your jaw? Remember, no straws!
