Doesn't matter what you buy - it'll be outdated in a few months and you'll want a new one even sooner.

i didnt say it wouldent work i just sait it wont meter or auto focus

Non-CPU: Can be used in exposure mode M, but exposure meter does not function;

Sorry, that's what I meant. As Anubis said, with that specific choice of lens you'll
not have all the metering, auto-focus goodies available since you'll be in Manual mode.
I guess you could drop ~$70 and get the f/1.8 50mm AF lens and probably do just as well.
And maybe you'll come across a deal for a 70-300 G lens for $55 shipped like I did.

A used D100 wouldn't be a bad choice either. It will meter through non-cpu lenses but some of the
processing and features are below that offered on the d70. Nevertheless its an equally capable camera
and a good choice as well.
