I don't really mind though. I do web development/design, and now they want to add some videos to the website, soI get to make them. I have to call up the IT department and tell them to buy me Premiere and a firewire card now.

oh, and, can anyone recommend a good firewire card?

Well, I can't say it's a pure firewire card, but my SoundBlaster Audigy has a firewire port on it that works just fine for me...

are you planning on doing any rendering? or straight capturing?

are you looking for a non-linear-editing card?
or straight up firewire card?

as far as my experience is concerned...
as long as it's a TI chipset...
brands don't matter when it comes to firewire cards

My Adaptec FireConnect 4300 firewire card works great, highly recommended. It has the TI chipset, and required pretty much no configuration to work perfectly.

All I'm going to be doing is capturing from a DV camcorder, and then doing some basic editing in premiere.

Sounds like something TI based is the way to go.
