Well...my computer can't handle Crysis 3 at 1920X1080. Advice?

Just got Crysis 3 and tried playing at my native resolution of my monitor (1920X1080) with the visual settings at medium. I feel like like the fps are around 15-20. This is the first game where my pc has struggled to run :(

My specs are the following:

OS:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3
CPU: Intel i5 2500k (Overclocked to @ 4.5GHZ) w/ Cooler Master Hyper212 plus
Video Card: HIS IceQX AMD 6950 2GB (Not unlockable to 6970)
Memory: G.Skill 16GB DDR3
Hard Drive: WD 500GB 7200RPM
Sound Card: Internal

My question is, what do you guys recommend I upgrade? I was looking at the i5 3570k or maybe adding another 6950 to do crossfire? (I heard performance is close to equal of a 7970/670?).

I just kind of want to know what is the single best thing I can upgrade and not be too expensive but see a performance boost :)

Thanks again!

I've got a friend with dual 6950s who has Crisis 3. I'll check with him to see how his crossfire rig holds up.

I also have dual 6950s but not Crysis 3...

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crysis-3-performance-benchmark-gaming,3451.html

After checking this out and paying attention to the minimum frame rate (which I believe is much more important than AFR) the ATI HD7950 really stands out against the back in the high detail benchmarks.

A single 7950 or 7970 is going to be better than dual 6950s for minimum frame rates IMO...

Still if you can find a 6950 cheap it would be worth slapping in there if your system can handle it.

Yeah I bet cause of all that rain and what not is the cause of such low fps :p

It's not the rain.

If you don't want to spend more money, just run it on low and get into the dome first. After that, you should be able to crank it up quite a bit higher (I would expect 30+ fps at medium settings, at minimum). If you can negotiate a cheap 6950 (under $150), it would be very worthwhile to crossfire. Then you should be able to max out everything.

Are we sure there isnt a hardware problem? Does crysis 3 really perform that badly with a 6950?

Crysis 3 is a very GPU intensive game, most single GPU configs won't cut the mustard at high-ish settings even at 1080p. The best thing to do in this case is to bite the bullet and go for a multi GPU setup, I would recommend nVidia becasue crossfire drivers a bit wonky at the moment and no one knows when they will actually improve

This is somewhat untrue, depending on your definition of "adequate:"
index.php

As you can see, if you are willing to use "high" rather than "ultra," you can get 60 frames per second with a 7970 GHz or 57 frames per second with a 7970/670. In fact, since the test was at 1200p rather than 1080p, I'd expect even a 7970 to hold 60 frames per second pretty consistently once you're out of that first area.
