Well, i finally conviced my church to get dsl. we are a pretty big church actually. well turns out with that new virus out called readme.exe, my pastor opened it :( which is not good and i told him about it and yet he didnt listen. One, anyone that knows anything about computers would know that readme's are ususally .txt. or .doc. So what does this virus actaully do?

First off, that probably was a virus. Secondly try and download one of the freeware virus scanners, or go to symantec.com and check out their free online scanner. It works very well. I suggest you do that first, and check to see if you have anything. If you do, the virus scanner should either a) fix it for you, or b) tell you how to fix it. You should do it ASAP if it has important information on that computer because since you don't know what the virus is/was it might be deleting file/s.

The Bigger Picture here is if you are their technical reference for their IT system, then its your reputation which is screwed. YOU being the "techie" that you are, should've forseen the possibilities of virii a long time ago. My advice to you is goto yahoo auctions or Eb@y.com and purchase the latest Norton or Mcaffee for a cheap price, and install it on all the machines within your churches network.

Remember......the computer illiterate are but wads of clay in your hands, you can shape and mold them into responsible users.
