Well, as some of you know i just got done building my newest computer, and now im already looking into upgrading it, but only one component (maybe two)

First off, no, im not uselessly wasting my money and no, i am not spoiled or rich
this is just an upgrade i wanted on my original build, but i didnt have the resources, and i didnt want to go a month without a computer, so im gonna do it now (well, in 2 months)

Right now i have a 3500+ @ 2.7GHz, 6800GT and a Thermaltake Tsunami case with an XP-90c for a heatsink.....

I cant decide between these upgrade possibilities

1) Selling off my 3500+ and getting an X2 (either a 3800 or a 4200, will be OC'ing)

2) Selling off the 6800GT and getting a 7800GTX

3) Selling off the Tsunami and XP-90C and getting a WaterCooling setup (high end, in the $250-$350 price range, but i need reccomendations for a good setup)

If i were to upgrade the vid to 7800GTX now, the only concern i had was that when the new ATI R520's come out, Nvidia might have another card already lined up, so it feels like i should just keep the GT till next summer and then see what my options are, right?

For the 3500+, im pretty sure i could reach 2.8 or 2.9GHz, but id need better cooling (at 52C on load right now with the XP-90C) but would watercooling help drop the temps significantly?

Thanks

Or should i just keep saving up, wait until after christmas (maybe have my christmas list be a 7800GTX ;) ) and then upgrade?

Again, any of these listed options were what i had planned, just couldnt do it at the time, so im *expanding* my build by 6 months

Depends on your interests. If you enjoy OC'ing as a hobby, and replace your hardware often - as it seems you do - then the watercooling setup could be a fun thing to tinker around with. I have the same setup as you, and am also looking into WC to take my overclocks farther.

It's not yet time to upgrade the 3500+ or 6800GT. The next interesting game looks to be what, UT2007? Quake4/QuakeWars??

Yea, ive been leaning towards watercooling as i do like to tinker with stuff like that

the only downside is i need a bigger case if i get watercooling (the Tsunami is big, but not big enough for WC)

Have you seen the external Zalman wc setup? You wouldn't have to change your case, and it's fanless.

yes, i have seen it....... its very interesting and i love it

but i would still looking into a new case (or at leadt humor the idea) because i have absolutely no room to hide anymore wires or stuff tubing for that matter

So is watercooling the consesus then, just for the OC'ing options and it will give me something to do for a few more months?
