Could've landed one easily. Friend of mine is a manager at BestBuy, same reason why I got 4 7800GT's for the price of one. Problem is: I'm broke, Christmas shopping is coming up, and my gf's birthday is this Wednesday.

I'll ask for one for xmas. :)

Word from the prods there is that they'll be opening at 5 AM for the release. Word on the internet says 9 AM.

Through searching online and other forums, a total of 300,000 units are available for purchase by first come first serve. The rest are reserved for pre-orders. Good luck to everyone.

My little brother wants one badly, and I agreed to get him one as a Christmas gift. He'll be lining up at Best Buy while I do the hunt at Wally World. You guys might want to check out Targets and Sears Stores too, as well as Sams and Costco.

Good Luck... Me, I'm waiting for a price drop and to see how PS3 compares... I waited for the Xbox last time, and I'm really glad I didn't jump on the PS2 before seeing what the Xbox could do.

These things are scarce. My local Best Buy only has 60 units, 10 of which are reserved for employees.

That's a LOT. We only got 32, and the bigger store a city over from us only got 42. Employees are not allowed to purchase them until the next wave (closer to Christmas).

WTF is wrong with your bosses? I'd demand the right to frigging buy something from anywhere I frigging wanted if it was on-sale, wether I worked there or not.

We only have 30 or 50, forgot which because I didn't pay attention at the meeting, at my Best Buy. Originally we employees weren't allowed to but they decided to let us, except we can't buy things at say like customer service, we have to wait in line like everyone else.

Yup, I used to work at a Best Buy, and still have some friends there. Employees are not allowed to reserve/hide systems. They are allowed to purchase the system but they have to wait in line like everyone else. Of course, it's always up to the store manager's discretion. I mean I'm sure this is a corporate policy not to let employees reserve the item, but I worked at one long enough to know that "some" managers tend to deviate from the policy.

I work at Target and we're giving away number tickets for these things. No number ticket = no xbox 360

Sounds more like the latter :(

Working in retail myself, it would be VERY difficult, even for a manager to be able to let go of at least $1600 worth of merchandise and only get $400 out of it.

How would you explain that?

I think the reasonable way to go about this (if I were a manager there), would be to allow employees one Xbox360 per.

That way they arent equalized with the general public, thats just not right.. they work there.. I'm sure the vacuum salesman gets first dibs on the new vacuum cleaners.

Maybe the general public could get jobs there? Then things are equalized ;)

I do understand the need for a 1 Xbox per person limit though, that makes total sense. Cant have some little douchebag buying all 20 systems and selling them on ebay.. thats just not in Best Buys best interest as far as customer relations is concerned (to not have any in stock).

I went to best buy today to buy a set of audio cables, and I could not believe my eyes. There were "campers", with tents and all, sleeping, waiting for the Xbox360 to be released for sale. It was like waiting for the best concert tickets to the greatest rock concert. But only for a freakin Xbox360? Honestly, how whipped by your own kids do you have to be to actually Camp-out on the best buy sidewalk to score them an Xbox360 for the Holidays? Pretty pathetic. I was stunned when I learned the reason they were there.

Stupid parents and spoiled kids.. Bill Gates and his gangs are laughing out loud... That is crazy!. I played with the demo unit at wallmart and I was not impressed. It looks better than XBOX but I will never camp out for a crap like this. Heck, i will get it ordered at costco and get it delivered if I want too.

Stupid people.

Yeah I got screwed over attemptin to pick mine up. Went to the local gamestop at 11ish ( had mine pre-ordered 3 months ago) I'm number 25 on the list, and the manager already told me they were getting 27. So it's all good, I'm there and the doors are locked, well the guys working tonight let 4 guys in at 11:30 when no one else could come in until 12:01. Ok, that's odd... They're all in there playing on the kiosk and stuff, when they pull 4 xbox 360's out and pull stickers off of them. Well, they hung aoround until 12:01, walked up, payed for them, and left. I get there and the guy asks for my name, I give it to him, and he says I can't help you tonight bro. I asked him why, because we only got 23 units in. Well a quick bit of work in my head and I realised one of those 4 d!cks had left with my xbox360, 27-4=23. I was number 25 on the list and ended up screwed over. Told the manager that after I get my xbox360 next week he'll never see any of my business again. Tried a couple of local wal-marts and gamestops and best buys but all were sold out. So basically I paid my money, got my unit pre-ordered etc. etc. And I ended up screwed over cuz the guy was buds with a few people who wanted it that night.. Fvckin great.

Workin on it... Very mad, prolly gonna take care of it tomorrow... Would prefer to be calm about it.

If I cancel my pre-order, I'd damn near never get the thing, least this way I will get it next week.

I just waited 7 hours in line a walmart for mine, they only had 39 total units in and the line was full by 7. Ended up spending over a grand and still didn't get the game I wanted. They were nice enough to give out tickets at 10 so we could walk around awhile. That was a long wait.
