i just restore from ghost image, far more convenient.

That's the smart way to do it. What do you use, Ghost or PDQI?

ghost. u can set it to span files if u have a huge image. with compression at high a clean winxp with sp1+updates/office etc generally is about 500~mb. i just leave the image on another partition for convenience..

Why is it that people rush to reformat at the first sign of trouble? What ever happened to booting froom a floppy, deleting the \Windows and \Program Files directory while keeping all the important stuff intact, and installing the OS again?
Because format kills your registry and gets rid of 4000 entries you've accumulated over the months but are no longer necessary.

heh yea, but don't forget office, stuff u can't live without. i dont install norton now that i think of it, the subscription to its virus updates would be from the initial install. that would suck. yea pqdi probably spans, i just don't use it anymore, did a long time ago🙂

oh, don't use ntsf obviously. can't access in dos. if u must use ntsf u probably gotta use fancier drive image software.

Just make a ghost partition and ghost a clean install w/ all of your apps to it. That way you can restore the image within a matter of minutes.

A nice clean format is a good feeling....kind of like spring cleaning your house....
Its like regaining your virginity. 😱

Or maybe its like washing away all your sins and being reborn. Yeah!
