Hi folks! With your help I was able to finalize my AM2 build. An X2 4200+. Well I got a buyer for it and am now thinking of going conroe (my first intel build).

Like last time, my dilemma is mainly for the case. I have $150 budget for the case, I want a "looker case" but without the blinding lights. I am looking for something with a side window to show off the insides. I am planning on a E6600 build with a very modest graphics card (I dont game so no use wasting money in this department). I will be using an OCZ Modstream Power supply and a 150GB Raptor with 1 DVD-RW drive. Basic components but my money will be splurged on the CPU/RAM/MOBO/CASE alone. Also consistecy with a black tone is very much preferred since i have a black monitor, KB/mouse, DVD-RW drive is also black face plate but I have the beige for it as well.

I am thinking mid-tower but am contemplating as to whether go with AIR or water cooling (which will also be a first for me) and seeing as to how the power consumption has been reduced by the Conroe over the previous procs, I will probably stay with an air (the AC Freezer 64 Pro is great in the AM2 build, high 30's to low 40's idle and mid 50's on load). I also prefer 120MM intake/exhaust fans but I want the dust-covers becasue dust inside the case is very bad in my case since I leave soon and no one will keep opening the system like I do (every weekend I have something to check out in the case and that pisses my mom off). I have checked out some CoolerMasters but frankly I dont want them becasue the front is mesh-wall (unless people who have used them can tell me as to whether they suck a lot of dust or not).

I have tried the TT Swing in the AM2 build and a Sonata II in the build before it (all AMD's). I have many recommendations in THIS thread, I really like how the ThermalTake Armor series look, but they are mostly full-tower. My selection so far from NewEgg searching are the P180, The Armor Junior (I see mesh, is there a dust protector in there behind it?). The Lian-Li's intrigue me, I need help in that direction as well :p. I am interested in the TT Eclipse DV (a bit over my budget though, although I've got a Samsung slmline laptop DVD-RW drive that I can swap out with it so I won't even have to use the 5.25" drive). I like how the TT shark looks (full tower though). This whole thing makes me look like I am biased to thermaltake :Q. O well.

So to sum it up, I need a mid-tower ATX case with a dust protector on anyplace that acts as an air intake, tool-less design, is easy to work with in terms of cable management, black tone consistency, atleast 2x120MM fans (intake and exhaust), No PSU is even better since I have my own. Under $150 and definitely not over $200. Silence isn't trivial but overall preferred, a good airflow is a must though.

So in closing forgive me for taking up your busy time (riiiight  ) and I hope I was as close to the point as possible with this post. (I damn well better be, I have been typing this up for the past hour, on the GPRS connection too so the browsing around slows down even more)

Desired dimensions: Height around 17 inches, width around 8 inches and depth around 19 incehs or so.

There aren't many nicer cases than the Silverstone Temjin 5 (SST-Tj05). Comes in these variants: black/silver, w/ or w/o window, w/ or w/o integrated Eudmon fan/temp controller w/ LCD sisplay.

the Thermaltake Eureka is impressive too.

I've always liked Antec cases and thinking about buying me an Antec Performance One P-180B which is really silent and keeps it cool.
Also keep in mind that if you go watercooling some warrenties of your hardware might not be valid anymore especially with graphicscards this is an issue.

I meant to say the Armor Jr which is a few inches smaller, the bad part is that it has meshes which will allow dust to go in. The TJ-05 is way too deep for me.

that might be what your looking for. 2x 120mm (intake and exhaust) black theme mid tower, tooless, has a built in air filter than can be removed and cleaned. Easy to work with ( i have one in the other room) and it fits in your budget.

Hope i helped

Edit: It does have LED's but you can take the one on the front out easily and you can always repleace the rear fan that has the blue led

CT,
The Tj03 is very nice, but lacks some ease of use and cooling features that the TJ05 has. But it is definitely roomy. Not to mention that you can get a TJ05 for half as much...

jgigz,

The Tsunami is nice, but it is basically an Antec SLK3000-B made of aluminum and it has the same drawback: not very roomy with the HDD cage in place - luckily the HDD cage is easily removeable. Set side by side to the Tj05 almost no one would notice the Tsunami. And Tt didn't use thick enough (and/or the correct alloy) aluminum so it can feel flimsy.

Besides, steel helps damp noise better.

Very True, i bought that case with my first build when i was 14 and didnt know much but compared to a lian-li even though its no where near the level of quality of one, its still a decent case that met his criteria and budget

For watercooling, you shouldn't get a case that's TOO high end. You might end up having to do some mods to make those rads fit. Especially if you go with alot of them.

The P180 is horrible for watercooling, you'll have to custom make a rad that fits in the bottom hdd rack. Although it has the mesh.

If all else fails. get a pair of scissors and your wife's pantyhose...

You can filter almost any intake fan with some air conditioner foam and sticky-back Velcro hooks...

Sorry for not noticing the mid tower req. So the Tsunami is a good option. How about the CM Mystique series? The Temjin 4 (Gloria) too.

well, tsunami holds my interest so far. I dont really need a roomy case, an ATX mobo with 1 HDD and 1 5.25" drive is all I use, I have a low-profile PCI-E card so thats a space saver too. The only thing I am looking for is good ventillation, good side-window and a case that is attractive and is easy with cable management. The TT Swing is nice but it is a PITA to do a good cabling job. The current contenders are now the TJ-04, the Tsunami and THIS one but no window option. goo0d so far.

Edit: what is the difference between THIS and THIS.

Also how is THIS?

Available in black with a window?

The SViking is one of my favorite mid-T Tt's. It's the same as my 5604 inside. Made of steel so it helps damp the noise better. See my review of the Rosewill 5604 here: http://www.techimo.com/reviews/ so you'll know all about the SViking too.

yeah you recommended that in the previous as well. but the tasunami with the brushed alluminum looks nice.

Desired dimensions: Height around 17 inches, width around 8 inches and depth around 19 incehs or so. The TJ-05 looks really nice but becomes way too big for me, expecially the depth.
