...and I innocently clicked on the buydig thread for the Samsung SSD's. And I thought about it. Damn. These are a good price.
I had been toying with the idea of upgrading my SSD for awhile, and thought, its only $144. Ordered a new drive. That was 2 days ago.
Then I started doing some research. I wanted to bitlocker FDE my C: drive this time, and looked up some stats. My current CPU doesnt support AES NI. Shit.
Then I was thinking about the new Samsung drive. Its SATA3. Looked up my current mobo...its SATA2. Shit.

But then....
😀😀😀
It all started with an SSD upgrade, and now its a full blown upgrade. LOL. Thank God wifey is understanding 😀
Old gear:
i7 930 CPU
MSI X58 Pro-E mobo
Intel X25-M 80GB SSD
6GB triple channel memory
New gear:
i7 3770S CPU
MSI Z77A-G43 mobo
GSkill Sniper Series 8GB memory
Samsung 830 128GB SSD
Biggest reason for all the upgrade? Native AES NI support for encryption, toggle TRIM on the SSD, and SATA3. My old system was certainly no slacker, but I suspect I'll see a pretty good increase in speed and response.
