I just ordered two of those for two new employes.

PIII 850mhz
256mb SDRAM
20GB HD space
8x DVD
ATI 8mb
15" TFT, 1400x1050 resolution

and then the basic stuff that follows, like speakers, irda infrared, usb and "stuff"

Tell me what you think of the 1400x1050. I just thought it was too much for a 15" screen and got a 1024x768 15". PIII600, DVD, 256 RAM, 16 MB ATI 128 - sweet with Unreal Tournament. 🙂

nearly everyone here has a PIII 700mhz laptop with 128-384mb ram and 16gb hd, 15"TFT that can do 1024x768. So when I get these laptops next friday (hopefully) I get to try them out. I used to think my laptop was quite good but 700mhz compared to 850mhz.. I want one to 😛

Too bad they don't have one of those new ATI graphics cards, or an Nvidia Geforce 2 GO card.

I think it's based on the Radeon core, like the Geforce 2 GO is based on the Geforce 2 core. It's supposed to compete against the Geforce 2 GO card in the mobile market.

Here is where they talk about the new mobile ATI chip at Firingsquad.

<< Although ATI didn't have any major mobile announcements to make at COMDEX this year, they were quick to point out that they won't announce a mobile product until it is immediately available to the public. In other words, ATI is currently developing a next-generation laptop chip, but they won't comment on any of its specs just yet. From what we gathered, it should be hitting the market sometime in Q1 of next year, probably close to the same time as NVIDIA's GeForce2 Go. >>

<< In terms of power consumption, ATI's upcoming mobile chip should be even more efficient than the current Rage 128 Mobility. ATI even went so far to say that they're "extremely happy with its power consumption".

At this point in time, it is a safe bet to assume that the upcoming mobile chip will be part of the Radeon family. On this note, ATI has made it a point to speed the release of family boards for upcoming chips. In other words, once the Radeon2 hits the market, we should see All-In-Wonder and mobile versions of it much sooner than we did with the original Radeon.

Don't leave us hangin...If your going to post this, tell us where and how much. Thanks.....I'm looking for one..

Yes, how about some more details. I've been kind of bored with the desktop scene of late. Some juicy laptop lovin is just what the doctor ordered!

Eug, no experience at 1400x1050, but I currently run a laptop with a 15" screen at 1600x1200x32 bit, pretty dang nice. The sharpness is excellent, and I have no trouble reading things on the screen. It did look tiny for a week, but I got used to it and now 1024x768 looks huge.

oh yeah, that card, I want one, sucks playing UT and halflife on this 700mhz crap in software mode 😉

its a HP Omnibook6000, cant tell you the price because its a special deal we get. But it aint cheap, I can tell you that.

And to add to the drool factor, each laptop comees with a docking station and a 19" monitor.

Damn....can you get IDE hard drive Caddies for laptops?

I would so ditch my Desktop for a laptop with a GF2-GO, only problem is that I have 75Gig of hard drive in my desktop, a laptop will have trouble matching that....If I could get a single IDE hotswap caddy though, even just attached to the docking station...

Hehehehehe
