Ive replied to your thread about how to remove the win2k boot menu, but on reading this im wondering why you are complianing. Wouldnt it have been a better idea to check out the drivers BEFORE you did the install, both on the official HWCL list/test from microsoft, and the manufacturers websites ?

Sorry if this seems a bit like a flame, as its really not meant to be, but youve deleted an OS the same day you installed it, stating in another persons thread that the OS hasnt been good for you 'so far', just because you dont have any drivers, which you dont appear to have bothered to look for in the first place?

You might also have tried asking for help, by telling us what make of scanner and modem youve got, and i already know its a MX300 soundcard from the other threads youve been in, then maybe someone here could have helped you out.


Just my thoughts/suggestions on the subject, theres no need to take it to heart or anything as like i say, this isnt meant as a flame.

hey lotust, seen you around on VH and a few other places, I recently did a switch to a dually boot of 98se and 2k, before i did i got latest drivers and bios for both os's started with mobo, then vid then sound card.. . just to let you know windows 2000 DOES NOT LIKE ADAPTEC EZCD CREATOR!!! will crash and Mess you up somthing serious, unless you get the latest ASPI layer. some one gave me a proggy with the latest ASPI and a auto installer so you can use stuff like fire burner, and it works, all you gotta do is run a simple batch after installing any ver of adpatec, and before resarting 2k, and your all set. If' you'd like to grab that, lemme know, and Ill try to post where i got it from later.. also check www.winimage.com, they also make a lil proggy for adding os's to win 2k's bootloader. it was suggested to me by some one here, I tried it, but it wasn't successfull, i'll play with it tonight. it seems to make things alot easier for ya with that proggy. . if the proggy worked that is, My goal is to install 5 os's and be able to burn cds, play dvd's, and games, and surf the web, and do all the stuff i did before i started this from all the os's. havn't even got win2k all the way up to that level yet, but pretty close..

Windows 2000 is supported by EZCD as long as you apply the recent updates.

Lotust, I think that even if you never get on with win2k, things should improve in the future because Whistler is VERY nice. Think of it as Win2k+2 with even more 9x bells and whistles 🙂

I'm sorry... what's wrong with NT4? As far as I hear, it's the most stable OS (of the win family).. what's wrong with going for tried testes and true? You wanna play games? Dual boot, 98/NT.. games and stability.. right? If I'm wrong correct me, but it seems that ppl always jump on the first new thing, and then it's never as good as the old thing.. I'm waiting till 2K is solid solid before I go there.. but that's just me.

Well, i suppose thats one view to take. However, IMHO the next thing coming out of Redmond is a VERY nice piece of work indeed, and id say skip win2000 all together 🙂
