Well, I'm ticked off

Looks like 1 of my 18" LCDs crapped out on me.
Looks like the 2.4c P4 I got doesn't OC worth crap.
The board is also not recognizing USB 2.0.

This is friggin annoying.

At 3.0Ghz and above I get page fault in non paged area error and it reboots.

What exactly are you asking help about? Sorry to ask, it just isnt clear to me... For the 3.0Ghz I would guess RAM timings/speed... But need more info...

Sounds like he's just venting..

Not recognizing USB 2.0? WinXP? Service Pack 1 installed? You need SP1 to get USB 2.0 in WinXP.

LOL, bad overclocking? My 2.4C doesn't go over 2.6GHz, talk about bad overclocking HERE... I'd be thrilled to get 3GHz. It's a shame I sold my 2.0GHz @ 3.0GHz for $150 🙁

mostly venting.

lcd monitor did crap out...well the dvi connector on it did at least...the vga still works. time to RMA it to dell.
probably going to return the CPU to staples and get a replacement as well.
as for USB 2.0...could use some help there. do have SP1 installed.

for the OC I'm thinking it may be the power supply. just a 400watt POWMAX.
the +3.3V is only putting out ~3.04
and the vcore is only putting out 1.47V when should be 1.525
maybe I'll crank up the voltages and see if that does anything

side note: dell's alright. should get a new monitor in 24-48 hours..pretty good.

LukFilm, I've had that cpu run @ 3.2GHz. Stable

alright...running it now at 234 FSB 5:4 = ~2.8Ghz. seems to be stable under sandra's burnin. memory should be no problem b/c its only running at DDR372 (using Corsair XMS DDR433)

now testing 242 FSB at 5:4 w/ 1.62V = ~2.9Ghz. Memory running at DDR388
Temps about the same under load as it was underload at stock 2.4Ghz

Can I have it back? 🙂 🙁

I have the same problem as lots of you....my P4 2.4C will hit a MAX (unstable) o/c of 2950MHz @ 245 FSB (5:4 ratio), and max STABLE o/c of 2900MHz @ 240FSB (5:4 divider)...after checking the HardOCP forums and seeing everyone and their (*&@#%( dog hitting 3.5GHz with their 2.4C's I am admittedly a bit pissed...but what I think we should keep inconsideration is that even at 2.9GHz I (we) are getting 500MHz essentially "free"...something for some of you to consider is that I have been reading up on ABIT boards (which is what I have, an ABIT IS7-G) that they are unstable/won't post with 3:2 or 5:4 dividers combined with some memory modules? So it might not be the processor holding us back.....what do you guys think?

LukFilm, I'm getting a 2.6C next month and this chip is going to retire to the kids machine @ 2.0GHz 😉

well, I backed it back down to 242 FSB at 1.575V with 5:4..so the memory is at DDR387. I also modded the power supply a bit as I could tell it was really heating up (attached a 80mm fan to it opposite the exhaust fan). It did cool things down a bit I believe. Now crunching SETI at ~52-55C.

I'll leave it like that for a day and then determine if I will be returning the CPU and possibly getting another 2.4C or a 2.6C

Noooooooooooo, what a horror, one of the best overclocking P4 2.0GHz CPUs (3.2GHz :Q) running at 2GHz, what a travesty!

Anyway, found out that the problem was with my Kingston HyperX PC3500 RAM - it wasn't even booting at default settings, when I pushed it to 260MHz FSB with 3:2 ratio, the CPU got into Windows and is running Prime95 right now at 1.7V with Zalman CNPS7000-Cu. I'll back down the voltage once I find out the lowest voltage it will run at 160MHz FSB.
