I've used sis chipset boards for p4's, but not amd cpus. I still like my ecs nforce2 board, even without overclocking settings in the bios. Nforce2 is still the best chipset for socket a, but that may change with the new sempron socket a cpus. I don't see your power supply listed. I recommend a quality brand such as antec, enermax, sparkle (fortron fsp), or thermaltake for your 9700, which requires alot of juice to run stable. A 350 watt quality power supply will be better than a generic 500 watt; many of those are overated for peak voltage.

You would have gotten an ECS L7S7A, actually, w/o the (optional) RAID controller, and with the 746FX instead of the original 746. (Syntax loosely are part of the PC-Chips group of companies, just as ECS are.)

I just went the other way and replaced my second (my first msi k7n2 delta-l had the common capacitor failure problem) msi k7n2 delta-l with a asrock k7s8xe+ (sis748).

I also have a asrock k7s8x (sis746fx) which has worked perfectly since early last year. The good thing about asrock is that they are quick to release official bios for new processors like the sempron and mobile athlon xp etc. I know the k7n2 delta-l also can use the sempron and mobile processors it's just nice to have "official" support for them! :)

ECS have released Sempron-enabled BIOSes for their entire current line of FSB333 mainboards as well.

Besides, they'll run anyway, with or without a BIOS that knows they're Semprons. They're just Thoroughbreds and Thortons, and we've had those for a while.

That said, I too have a SiS chipset under my desk - a plain 746 on an ECS L7S7A2. Couldn't say no to a $30 mainboard that included an internal USB 6-in-1 card reader ...
