Well, if you want to give your opinion...

My CPU and motherboard just got fried (as well as my PSU) (at least I'm fairly certain, I'll know if it was one of my expansion cards later tonight).

So, I'm now in the market for a new CPU, new mobo, etc etc. I have two 256meg sticks of DDR 2100 that should still work, so it needs to be a DDR mobo.

I am a poooor college student... any suggestions? (P4 might be more desirable, less need for extensive cooling)

Wow, for once, none of you guys want to give your opinions... I thought that was what ATOT was based on.

Oh, wait, I'm looking for informed opinions... my mistake.

Wow, I'm being a bastage today. :p

Not bad... the deluxe only adds RAID support and the two Firewire ports, right?

The Deluxe adds two SATA RAID ports, neither one has IDE RAID. And Firewire like you mentioned, and Dolby Digital Audio.

Mmm... worth the extra $30 or suchlike... mmm.

'Nother question... what's up with the vertical audio connections and USB connections? (where the game port and originally horizontal vertical slots normally are)

Here.
Trying to install in a case like this one...

How does the cooling on the Athlon XP compare to the cooling on the older Athlons? I have a Coolermaster HSF (really, really quiet)... worth it to get a larger case fan, or should I just give up on the whole "quiet rig" thing and install a delta?

This dude...

Is the PSU I'm looking at. Trying to remember if there are any cooling systems available that would link the CPU exhaust with the PSU intake or something similar...

Could probably make your own simple duct out of cardboard or something if you really wanted..

As for a heatsink I'm happy with my Thermalright AX-7 with a YS Tech 80mm 48.7CFM max fan with a RPM knob. Keeps things plenty cool and it's not terribly loud. Can always adjust the knob if it is.

I've got an overclocked Tbird, not sure how that compares to an XP heat-wise. I know XP's run cooler clock for clock, but i don't know how something like a 2000+ would compare with my sub 1.4GHz cpu.

Mmm...

I'm wondering if it was an issue with the PSU all along. Never had a problem with the motherboard, CPU, video card, etc until I switched cases. I may just try a new PSU and see if the system will work.

On the other hand, if there was really an arc of electricity down the back of my case, I'm wondering if I may as well assume that my motherboard is screwed...

shouldent be qany cooling issues. teh stock HS/F on teh 1800+ will be fine unless you want to overclock. if you do get a AX-7

That's what I thought...

Had cooling issues last night (CPU was up to ~66 C), again wondering if it was the PSU.

I know the PSU is fried for sure. Don't know for sure if the motherboard or the CPU are dead. All I saw was an arc of electricity go down the back of the case. (around the parallel port/video card) Computer won't even turn on, hence the PSU burnout... don't know yet about the video card, the CPU and mobo are suspect.
