Meh, I don't know, maybe. The problem is nobody will do that after graduation, or at least damn rarely. And I'm not really sure what value there is in the gesture. If the team being beaten knows the other team has slacked off then what are they getting from it? An embarrassing requirement to remain on public view for the duration, basically. I'd lean toward: just play the game. Getting beaten really badly is pretty rare in the overall scheme of things, and who's to say there aren't things to learn from it just as there are things to be learned from winning big?

I think there is even more to learn from losing than winning and these kids were probably lucky to have the opportunity to lose so badly.
