1998 ZX2.

ATX dies, so I decide...hey let's toss a 5spd in it.

Saturday is when I finally got my ATX to bounce off the floor. It took a lot - broken bolts, rounded nuts, studs...everything seemed to want to break in some way. But I managed to get it.

And right now, I have my MTX in. I have everything together. Everything. The interior is finished...it's all done.

Except for the fact that...the throwout bearing came off it's seat at some time and I didn't catch it. Which means I have to tear it all back the fuck apart to put it on it's seat, then DO IT AGAIN.

Oh yeah, and the studs on the exhaust manifold decided that they would be better off in three (3) pieces. Which means I need a new header, because it's cheaper than a new OEM manifold.

This was seriously....the most intense thing I've done. And right now I just about want to push the thing off the cliff. That fucking throwout bearing.

Lol, just kinda venting. Noone believes I got as far as I did, I'm really impressed with myself.

Well that is pretty impressive feat. I've never attempted such an intensive automotive overhaul...but I'd love to do something like that if I had time...some day. Of course we'll all be driving air powered motor scooters by then....so I may never get the chance.

=]]]] she RUNS!

Got it all hooked up, nothing torqued down. Just to make sure that she was working.

Sure enough, the car works. Fired up after I charged the battery, now I just need to get the damn header and I'll be good to go.

Yeah, my PCM got swapped. It was a single bolt, the easiest thing to swap on my car, lol.

I almost did a wiring harness swap as well to get power windows and cruise...but decided I'll do that in the summer.

Impressive 🙂

Those ZX2's run real well, should be a lot more responsive without that slushbox.

I think there's a throttle body that you can put on for some more improvement.

Hehe yeah, there's apparently a lot of stuff for ZX2s :

That thing is probably a performance monster if he can get traction, but that exterior is hideous. It'd be fun to have all those mods, but have a small exhaust tip and zero exterior mods.

Thanks.

It's a fun little car, which is why the ATX died on me. Oops. =]

But right now I;m leaking at the back of the transmission where the pan is, new seal time.

Awesome job. I'll be dropping a 3.8 engine out of a firebird for a new one in the spring, and I hope it runs after major surgery like yours.

Nice,
that's a great feeling! I did the same with my old Audi A4 when the second gear blew up. $450 for a new 5 speed and maybe 12 hours of my time for the swap 🙂
