A continuation of yesterday's thread:

Cliffs Notes: I've been offered the chance to move to Phoenix and advance my place in my current company.

I talked to my wife last about it for about 5 hours. General conclusion was "Let's go for it". She'd stay up here for a year and finish up her last year of school. We'd also rent out 2 of our 3 bedrooms at our current home to her classmates on rotation to pay the mortgage for a year. We looked up residencies for her field and there were several opportunites available in or near where we are considering living.

So...I'd be bach'ing it for a year until she moved down. But, I'll be spending a week or more a month back "home" with her every month when I fly in and take care of responsibilities at my current office. Plus, I'd have enough expendible income to comfortably fly her down here for another weekend a month every month or every other month too. So, it isn't all that bad. As it is, we maybe see each other 2 or 3 nights a week anyway with rarely a weekend together because of her classes and jobs and my job and schedule.

Sooooo...it looks quite likely, baring any sort of catastrophic events, that I will be heading down to live in the Phoenix this May or June.

The part that scares me is moving from podunkville, IA to metropolitan area that has a population as large as my current state. :Q 🙁 It's going to be one hell of a change.

I've received a PM or two from some Pheonix, or former Phoenix peeps and I thank you for your comments and suggestions. If anyone else in the Phoenix area, or familiar with the area would be willing to field some questions or point me to some websites, could you please drop me a line via PM or just leave a quick post saying you wouldn't mind me picking your brain for a few minutes on some different things.

It's going to be an interesting year.😎

good luck!

it's always good to live in a metropolitan area once in your life. not that there's anything wrong with living in a small town for your whole life, but i would think you'd still be curious what it would have been like.

Heh. I think I've got a line already waiting outside the house for people wanting to come down in the winter to golf.

You know you've got an open invite any time.

Nice! Hope everything goes very well for you! If I was a little closer, I'd drive down and buy you a  when you get there. 😀

Congrats?

I spent some time in the Phoenix, Scotsdale, Tempe area back in the 70's.
It WILL be differant than where you are now, but I'm sure it has changed a lot since I was there.
