Congratulations on the job offer. I'm in a similar situation (applied for lord knows how many positions), and have only heard back from a few, so hopefully I'll join you soon in the land of gainful employment.
Edit: and yeah, especially in the job market today, experience seems to be pretty crucial regardless of what field you're looking into. Hell, even the research jobs I've seen are asking for 2-3 years, and pay in the 25k/year range.

I'm in the MD/VA/DC area ... I would say that the salary is pretty good to start. With the bonuses it's almost up to $50,000/yr which is the area I was looking for. but after trying to get a job for 2 months and only having 2 interviews, it was alot harder than I thought it would be to get a job. I am taking this one DEFINITELY not only for the money, but also for the experience.
I really wanted to get into commercial software also, and this is the perfect start! I won't be making little programs for the company internally, but for consumers to actually buy in stores and something I can see when I go into a store

Persistence and practice is the key I interviewed with many many companies even if I knew I didnt want the position beforehand. I was scared chitless the first 4-5 interviews, then after that it was a cakewalk. Most interviewers ask the same questions or variants of about 5-7 questions.

Heh this was only my 2nd interview ever . I was nervous before I got to the place, but once I was in there and shook the guys hand, I was just myself. I joked around with the guys once I saw their personality, and I guess they liked it. I just made sure to keep smiles on the guys' faces. When I talked to the head guy today, he told me that he really like my personality in the interview and all the knowledge that I seemed to show, as well as my resume. So I guess its just pretty much everything that you have to put together when considering if they want you or not.

Make them smiles, nice strategy! Next time I'll remember some jokes, maybe one of Letterman's Top 10 lists.

Heh my favorite was this, THEM being 2 interviewers:
THEM: So do you have any questions at this point?
ME: Actually yes. What exactly will I have to wear at work?
THEM: (small chuckle) Does that matter to you really? (in a smiling tone)
ME: Oh no no NO. Not at all, it's just that at my intern last summer when they told me I would be wearing only Jeans and a T-Shirt, I was kind of shocked.
THEM: (small chuckle again) Oh Okay. Well normally we dress like this (button up dress shirt, slacks), but you won't see us wearing a Tie usually. We are wearing ties now because we had to interview you. Normally it's just the button up shirt and the slacks.
ME: Yea, normally I don't dress like this either (I was wearing a suit). I'm just dressed this way because you guys are interviewing me.
. They got a good laugh out of that.
