Due partly to the fact that it's 13 years old. partly to the fact that it makes 100hp more than it did when it left the factory, and partly to the fact that the previous owner dead REALLY BAD work on cars, my car was due for some serious work. I'm replacing the motor and tranny mounts, clutch, and a few little things, and generally fixing all the things that the previous owner did wrong.
Today we pulled the transmissino and clutch off the car. one of the 4 bolts that attaches the transmission to the bellhousing was completely missing, and the other three were VERY loose. I pulled the bellhousing off without any tools. also, the car still had the flexplate from an auto tranny on it, even though it's had a tremec 3550 in it for quite some time. The auto flexplate doesn't have holes in the bottom of it for bolting up the tremec tranny. Basically, there was only ONE bolt holding the bottom half of my tranny to the motor. (thank you previous owner).
so, the clutch was worn out (more around the edges than in the middle, cause the trannywasn 't aligned properly) and the motor and tranny mounts have been beat to hell by the extra 100 horses the car makes....
Next week the flywheel comes off, the new motor mounts goes in, and the rest of the preparations for putting the tranny back in are made. Week after that, the whole thing goes back together, and should feel like a whole new car.
