Coming from a PC to the Mac. I plan on getting more RAM sometime in March.

As of right now, this workstation will be used for my design stuff (your Adobe Design Premium Package, some 3d modeling programs) and I'm looking forward to using Logic Pro 8, but methinks I'll need to also get a keyboard for that.

The only real concern I have is that I'll have 3 harddrives. 1 is in the Mac Pro already, the other came free with the purchase and I'll install it myself (should be easy) and the concern lies within the 3rd one. It's coming from the old PC, which houses tons of stuff from before the motherboard of the thing fried. A Maxtor 300GB SATA. I have no idea where to begin in order to keep the files that are in there.

Do I have to do anything special since this was in a windows machine and I want to keep my data? Most of it are my music files and design files. I'm pretty sure a lot of the applications can now go, since I'll mainly be using Leopard. So I think what I'd like to do is just put whatever files from that drive to another and then if at all possible, completely format that HD for use with mac.

Of course, knowing next to nothing when it comes to macs has gotten me wanting to "measure twice, cut once" by asking for help.

Thanks all.

Nice, congrats and welcome to the club! :)

iirc Leopard can read NTFS-formatted drives but cannot write to them without a special driver (MacFUSE or Paragon). So you should be able to pop it in and just pull the data off the drive. Once you've retrieved all of your data, go ahead and format it using HFS+.

Thanks guys! If what Kaido says is true, this will be less painless than I thought it'd be.
