Did you have your speakers as close to your CRT as they are to the LCD in those images? I wonder if interference was a contributing factor to the degradation in quality.

Anyway, very nice screen, enjoy it!

keys...thanks for doing the tests. The results sound good to me. (However if you want to post pics you'll have to take a photo, as this just takes the pic out of your video card's memory.)

Wouldn't the screen shots be different on every monitor?

Wouldn't you have to take a picture of the monitor with a camera?

Updated. And bump.

xtknight. I noticed you added the LG to your LCD thread list, but what does LPL indicate?

BTW my name has a k in it. :p

LPL is an abbreviation for LG Philips LCD. They seem to make the best TNs (at least including 19" and 20"). Actually they seem to make the best LCDs period. That and the evidence you've posted here is enough for me to elect this as the top 22" LCD.

Ah ok. Well then, I'm glad I bought the top 22" LCD then. You really know how to make a guy happy about his purchase!! ;)

Oh, and just for that, I added the "k" to all your mis-spelled names.

I am actually considering returning the L226WT I bought last week. I've been having nothing but problems with it. I had the viewsonic 22" but returned it hoping the LG was better. Judging from my experiences, I cannot recommend this monitor at all.

Non TN-related problems:

1. Very poor out of the box calibration - I had to severely shift the gamma curves - way too much blue. I was able to use the calibration tool and get a reasonably accurate picture - but not perfect. I had never seen a monitor so far off.
2. Confusing Sharpness tool - now I can never tell if it's quite sharp or not
3. Random blacking out - screen flickers and sometimes shuts off - shows half the screen with the backlight fully lit and the other off - could be a defect! I've actually had to power down several times so the screen will come back.
4. Syncing problem with forteManager software (calibration tool that comes with it) - the screen appears in broken chunks - fixes itself when I turn the screen off and on again. Could also be a defect.
5. Buttons are very difficult to press. They are located in a strange place.
6. ForteManager gives page not found errors if you click on certain tabs in Vista.
7. Very poor dark colors response - I can't see past 8,8,8. The Viewsonic 22" TN showed down to 2,2,2. (My VP930b (P-MVA) shows beautifully down to 1,1,1)

Good things:

1. Shows reds very nicely - good representation of red/orange hues from pictures and in games.
2. Doesn't have nearly as bad a TN effect when looking from below as the Viewsonic did (it showed major red halos around the pixels from as little at 10 degrees below the screen)
3. Nice bezel design - clean and functional.

Thanks for the pics. Which monitor is which in the first image? Using my super bionic eyes I can tell that the image on the right looks slightly more balanced but the one on the left looks more contrasty.

I love my 22" TN panel, and your monitor looks like an improved panel from what I have. Everyone here always bashes them and 22" 1680 x 1050, but I like my monitor a lot. Enjoy it!

In the picture with both, the Samsung is left; LG is on the right.

Second pic he posted is the LG.
Third is the Samsung.

I can tell them apart by the damn power button LED :p
