So, after a couple of months with the EVGA GTX-590 Classified Quad-SLI, I sold them and decided to go with the EVGA GTX-580 3GB Tri-SLI. This was mainly because I am running an insane resolution of 8100x1600 (3 30" monitors) and NVidia Surround.

The 3GB VRAM will definitely come in handy so I am really looking forward to how they compare with the Quad-SLI GTX-590s.

I will get some benchmarks etc. once I install the cards in the next few days.

Until then, a preview:

Good move, IMO. I'm curious to see how much difference you find. I'll wager, it will be more positive than negative. I think your memory buffer and gpu power will be better balanced allowing you to use higher IQ in many games.

You should have went with 6990 instead and set up a bit mining station. So far i have 1/3rd of 1 of my 6990s payed for and I only ran for a week.

Wow! It must have been nice to be rich!
FTFY! ;)

If you have three monitors and three cards, do you need to set them up in SLI? I guess it would help if a game was run on only one or two monitors; but wouldn't an SLI-free setup help with micro-stutter?

From what I understand, they would have to be setup in SLI mode so the driver can properly distribute work between the gpus. Especially since he's using that insane resolution.

Do some benchmarks when you get it set up. I'd like to see how the latest games run at such a high res. It's not something you see in many reviews.

Just set it up today!

Here's a preliminary run of Unigine 2.5:

Played BF: BC2 for about 20 mins. Turned AA to 16xQ CSAA, AF = 16x, HBAO = ON, and everything at HIGH @ 8100x1600 and , the mem usage was at 2.3GB! FPS was around 45! ouch! Will need to test some other settings for sure..

And, for comparison, here's the GTX-590 Quad-SLI run for Unigine 2.5:

Tri-SLI FTW! :D
