Well I blew this interview

I just had this interview for a sales position with a local furniture company.
When I was asked "Why do I want to work form them" my answer was "I need a job and you're looking for help" 😛

Oh well. I really don't care too much about this position. Sales isn't my field, I/T is.

Sounds like a logical answer to me. If I was the interviewer I'd give more attention to a straight forward no bs answer vs. the next guy saying "Furniture sales are my passion.".

if the job was comission the answer to the question of "Why do I want to work form them" would be "because i can sell and i want to make a lot of money"

You never know. They may think "Hey, this guy gave us a straight forward and honest answer without blowing smoke up our a$$....we like him."

or they could be like, "loser! how is he gonna sell this garbage if he can't lie or suck up to the customer?"

Well, I guess that's ONE way to get a job, but keep in mind, it'll also be expected of you when you want a raise too...

On another note...how do you get the taste out of your mouth afterwards? 😉

Doesn't sound like you really put much thought into getting that job. Even for a "nothing" job, if you want/need it, you have to do a bit of research into the company, and try to have answers for questions like that prepared in advance.
Yes, some interviewers might like the honesty, but most expect to have get a certain amount of bullsh*t slung at them, and if you don't, you may be perceived as not really caring about the job...

The correct answer, is "I am good at selling and would like to bring in some extra income".

i went for an interview the other day and the guy asked me qhat my day is like at my current job.

i said "i run a report in the morning and then wait for something to break so i can fix it." its basically my typical day because my boss doesn't involve me in anything.

he then asked the dreaded "where do you see yourself in 5 years" question.

I said "honestly, i have no idea. i'm looking at going back to school but i have no idea what i want to do yet, so i can't really say where i see myself in 5 years."

i went in for one job but they had already filled it and all they had left was tech support, which i did not want, so i didn't care whether i they wanted me or not. my answers still would have been the same either way though.

I have had an interview where I've said "I'm really not sure that I want the position but IF the compensation was attractive I would consider it". Of course I didn't care about the position OR the company.
