Well, have made the decision to build my first PC

Like the title says I have decided to build my first PC in the near future. My PC will be used primarily for gaming. I know that I have the skills necessary to assemble the PC but choosing the hardware is such a confusing task. As of right now I've decided to try and find all the best parts money can buy and do a little research and figure out where I can cut back without losing the performance I really want.

Bascically, I want a PC that can run any of the current games on the market at the highest settings possible. I have never had a computer capable of doing this and now I figure it's time to treat myself to a new toy...plus I'm tired of all the hassles and politics involved in console gaming...mainly certain games being on one console but not on another...I just want one system that I can play any game I want on without having to buy a whole new console.

Anyway, here's the build I have picked out. It's pretty expensive and honestly I'm not even 100% sure that all these parts will work together. Can you tell me what you think.

CPU- Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor $329.99

Motherboard- ASUS Maximus V EXTREME $379

RAM- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GBx2 $75.98

GPU- GIGABYTE GV-N670OC-2GD GeForce GTX 670 $399.99

Power Supply- Antec EarthWatts Series EA-750 Green 750W ATX12V $99.99

Hard Drive 1- OCZ Vertex 4 VTX4-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB $104.99
Hard Drive 2- Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s $149.99

Optical Drive- LG Black 10X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal 12X Internal Blu-ray Drive 3D Playback $54.99

Case- Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Upgraded USB 3.0 $99.99

~Total Cost~
$1694.91

I know I can skimp somewhere. I guess I just don't where to skimp and what is necessary and what isn't necessary. I'm sure this would be an extremely nice computer if all the parts work together.

So...maybe if you can point me in the right direction and maybe help me find some good tutorials and give me some advice that would me greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the long winded post!

The Maximus V Extreme is a very expensive high end motherboard. Unless you are going to try some major overclocking, you could save some money by going with another Z77 board (for instance, the ASUS Sabertooth Z77 $229.88, FS at JR.com or $239 at Newegg). The Maximus V Extreme is also an extended ATX board (larger than a normal ATX board), so you need to do some research to ensure it will fit the case you have selected.

If you are buying right now, TigerDirect has the i3770k for $279.99 with free shipping. You probably won't find an i3770k any cheaper anytime soon (provided you don't live near a Microcenter), so you might want to grab one while they are in stock.

The case you are selecting has plenty of drive bays, so there isn't anything which says you can't go with a smaller hard drive now if you can find one for a good price and add a second down the road.

Don't know about the OCZ SSD - I read lots of stories about bad luck with them, so you are rolling the dice there.
