That was a great tournament and an especially great final day. I'm glad Daly pulled it out...what a bunker shot!

that was an amazing bunker shot...really put the pressure on the other two guys, and it worked out!

Yes its very hard and a game that can never be mastered but can be played the rest of your life. Talk to a friend who plays and maybe go out to the driving range with 'em. Get a cheap starter set of clubs and you're hooked from now on.

Good deal. I was watching but didn't catch the end. He seems to be a good guy who makes bad choices.

Go to a custom club builder and have him assemble a set of clubs. Tell him your a beginner. They will be as good as the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ stuff that the pros endorse. Plus the builder will make them to fit your height.

And YES golf is hard, I've made up new swear words while playing it.

LOL. I've had curses that would offend a drunken sailor while playing golf.

It takes a long time to be decent. It's a very very hard game and lots of people play their entire lives and don't break 100. The fact that it's so hard is why I recommend that you DON'T buy clubs. As a clubmaker and fitter, that's a hard thing to say, but the fact is that you're probably going to quit. Most people do as progress is slow and from the beginning you feel like a real idiot. You won't play like a girl, you'll play WORSE than a girl. There's nothing worse than being beat by a 12 year old girl or a 70 year old woman, but it'll happen.

Borrow a set of clubs or buy a real cheapo used set for $20 from a garage sale. Then hit a driving range, don't go anywhere near a real course for a while. That's the key, on a course where you have to chase your misses into trees, water, parking lots or the clubhouse, the frustration level builds quickly. Stay on a range where you can shrug off a miss easily. Don't venture onto a real course until you can make contact consistently and hit the ball at least 100 yards on a majority of your swings. Until you reach that point a regular course will be too hard to handle.

I agree with this. Golf can be expensive and there's no point in investing too much if you don't stick with the game. And like mentioned, don't even go out on a course until you've spent a good deal of time at the range and can make consistent contact. Also, if you really want to learn correctly, take a couple of lessons to get you started so you're doing the basics right. Then go out on the course and have fun, or swear a lot, and keep going to the range as much as possible.

If you stick with it, then go for fitted clubs. Golf is probably one of the best games ever invented. Where else do you get to traipse around a manicured park in goofy clothes, smacking a little white ball and drinking beer. :D

And drive a little cart around drunk. Not a bad game at all.
