well, car's going in the junkyard :(

so my mom brought herself car last month and left me her 95 hyundai sonata. The car's speedometer, tachometer and odometer didn't work, and it had a problems starting in the cold, but it was still drivable, so I took it. It was nice, since driving between Waterloo and Toronto was much better than taking the bus.

Anyway, it broke down 2 weeks ago and I took it to a repair shop and they want $800 to fix the timing belt and water pump, so that's the end of line. Even if I fix it, it'll still have a cold start problem, its panel still won't work and it'll need another several hundred to get it to pass the emissions test in April. It might not look so bad, but I only need a car until the end of August, after that I am moving back to Toronto to finish school, and a car would be pretty useless (school is downtown, and I don't live far from it).

sucks, but I guess I'm back to busses, bike and walking :\

Why not sell it as-is?

Probably get something out of it instead of junking it.

Yeah, I bet someone willing to do the belt/pump themselves would probably still give you $50-200 for it.
